Composition in two genres

Below are my writings in two genres that I have chosen. The first one follows a format of an open letter, and the second one combines a photo image with a quote.

An open letter to Kim Jong Un

Dear Supreme Leader,

I write to you today not as an enemy but as someone who loves both South and North Korea. This open letter is my voluntary advice to you.

I understand that you cannot entirely trust what the US government is promising to you. As many know, the United States of America has a long history of lying and betrayal. Above all, the US is the first country that developed a nuclear weapon and actually used it. I hate it when the US government treats North Korea like a banana republic. Koreans were sovereign people when Americans were still cowboys.

I know North Korea wants peace. Right now, this peace is in danger as the world is watching with concern. I believe in North Korea’s right to defend itself. However, I also believe that developing and stockpiling nuclear weapons is far from being beneficial to anyone on this planet. I would never want to see the next world war of total destruction begin in Korea.

Both South Korea and North Korea are already overburdened with military spending. It is time that both Koreas reduce military spending. I suggest that North Korea find common ground with the rest of the world. When isolated, North Korea can be an easy target of the US military machine. Let the streets of Pyong-Yang be crowded with foreigners. Accept as many refugees as possible. Let teachers from US, Canada, and Australia teach English at every school around the country. This way, you will strengthen solidarity with peace loving people throughout the world. When financing is needed, it is not a good idea to borrow from western institutions. Get direct assistance from South Korea in return for reduced military spending.

Too many generations have been decimated in Korea since its division. Now it is time to find a way to end this painful conflict and build a permanent peace. You have the initiative to begin this peace process. Bring peace and hope into the Koreas. Then you will deserve to be called “Supreme Leader”

Sincerely yours,

Seungsu Han

Although the world stood up and stopped the bastard,

The bitch that bore him is in heat again.”
